Martin Camp is Professor of Practice and Assistant Dean for Graduate and International Programs at SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas, where he teaches in the areas of Property and Business Law. He has also taught Higher Education Law at the SMU Simmons School of Education Higher Ed Doctoral Program. Before joining SMU in 2005, Martin was a Partner for twenty years at Jones Day practicing M&A and Corporate Real Estate Services. From 2005 until 2015 he was the Assistant Dean of Students at the law school. While a practicing attorney he taught Real Estate Transactions and Land Use Law as an adjunct professor at both the University of Texas Law School and SMU Dedman School of Law. A 1979 graduate of SMU Dedman School of Law, he has spoken and written extensively for CLE Programs in areas of Real Estate, Land Use and Ethics. He is the author of The Law Firm Associate’s Guide to Connecting with Colleagues, published by the Law Practice Management Section of the ABA, and the children’s book Why Alligators Don’t Have Wings. Kevin Townsend is a 25-year veteran of the Entertainment and Marketing industries. Kevin spent almost a decade as a key member of George Lucas’s management team at Industrial Light + Magic and ILM’s parent company, Lucas Digital. At ILM he grew the marketing & commercial division into one of the most prolific production companies in the world while managing an almost 200% growth in revenue year over year. Expanding its offerings to include Live Action, Visual Effects, and Post Production all under one roof, Kevin pioneered a production methodology that is now commonplace throughout the industry. In addition, he created a division of ILM Commercial Productions dedicated to the growing need to help advertisers migrate into the convergence media realm.
A Master Rank Skydiver, former Guardian Angel, and student of American history and film, he is a father of four and lives in Marin County California.
Dr. R. Britt Freund is director of the Project Management Consortium at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. He is also the former graduate business dean and director of the full-time, evening and professional MBA programs at the school. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on a wide range of topics, such as project management, operations strategy, distribution, supply chain management, inventory control, optimization, process analysis, practical statistics and risk management. He has also taught extensively in executive and professional MBA programs in Europe, Asia and the United States.
Dr. Freund is a very active speaker and consultant who has worked with a wide variety of public and private corporations. These organizations include Royal Dutch Shell, ExxonMobil, Petrobras, Sinopec, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Motorola, Texas Instruments, HEB Groceries and Frito-Lay. Dr. Freund is involved with several small start-up organizations in the Austin metropolitan area and is currently a member of the curriculum committee for the Texas Entrepreneurship Foundation. His primary research, teaching and consulting interests for the past decade have been in the realm of project management, particularly the management of risk within large capital projects. Dr. Freund has received a number of teaching awards from his students while at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also routinely involved in student case competitions at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Tim has over 30 years of diverse business, legal, and operational experience. The first fifteen years were focused on aviation during which time Tim served as a US Air Force pilot and instructor pilot and as a pilot, management pilot, and corporate financial analyst for American Airlines. After aviation, Tim practiced law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and later served as the firms’ Director of Innovation and Legal Project Management.
As a lawyer and consultant, Tim has delivered projects to many clients, large and small, on a variety of business, law and technology issues.
Tim has also served as an adjunct professor of law at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and has developed and delivered corporate training programs in connection with the Project Management Consortium and the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
Tim holds a BS in electrical engineering from Tufts University, an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a JD from Southern Methodist University.
